Partner Initiatives
The Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) is a membership-based, non-profit initiative of RMI and Environmental Defense Fund (“EDF”) with the mission to accelerate the path to net zero air transport by driving investment in high quality SAF. SABA member companies include over 30 corporate aviation customers (“Customers”) as well as airlines and aviation-related manufacturers (“Aviators). SABA runs collective procurement of SAF certificates on behalf of its member companies in addition to supporting a broad array of SAF market development activities.
The Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA), is a non-profit buyers group within the maritime sector, with the aim to accelerate commercial deployment of zero-emission shipping, enable economies of scale, and help cargo owners maximize emissions reduction potential beyond what any one freight buyer could accomplish alone. ZEMBA is an initiative of Cargo Owners for Zero Emission Vessels (CoZEV) and facilitated by the Aspen Institute’s Energy and Environment Program.
ZEMBA is running a collective procurement in 2023 to procure maritime shipping services that achieve zero or near-zero emissions on a lifecycle basis.
The Value Change Initiative (VCI) is a membership-based, peer learning and development platform founded by Gold Standard and SustainCert. It’s objective is to unlock accounting, reporting and incentives related issues associated with Scope 3, with a particular interest in value chains.
VCI has pioneered solutions and guidance for Scope 3 Category 1 (Purchased Goods) and facilitated peer to peer working groups in the food and agriculture and apparel sectors. It has also facilitated ‘lab’ discussions to explore issues such as claims, supply-shed/sourcing regions and accounting.
